How do bees tell each other where flowers are?
Bees do a special dance in the hive to tell their friends where flowers are.
When a bee finds lovely flowers, it flies back to the hive and dances there. This dance is called the 'waggle dance'. The bee moves in a shape like the number eight and waggles its tail fast.
The way the bee dances shows which direction the flowers are in, and how long it dances shows how far away the flowers are. Other bees watch the dance, smell the scent on the dancer, and then fly off to the same flowers.
Thanks to this dance, the whole hive finds the best flowers in a very short time. Scientists studied this dance for a very long time before they worked it out.
