What do astronauts do in space?
Astronauts do experiments in space, keep the spacecraft running, and explore the Earth.
Astronauts live and work on the International Space Station. Every day, they do science experiments. They study how plants grow in space, or how their bodies change. These experiments teach scientists on Earth new things.
Astronauts also fix and take care of the space station. Sometimes they go outside the station for a spacewalk. They wear a special space suit for this, because there is no air outside.
They also exercise, because muscles and bones get weak in space. In their free time, they look at Earth through the window and take photos. When their mission is over, they fly back to Earth in a rocket.
