Is doing homework really necessary?

Yes, homework helps you remember what you learned and builds good study habits, so it is necessary.

Hearing something once at school is sometimes not enough. When you do homework, you think about that topic again, and your brain remembers it better. It is a bit like riding a bike — you have to pedal again and again to learn it. Homework works the same way for learning.

Homework also teaches you to study on your own. You try to solve a question without your teacher next to you. You think it through, and if you make a mistake, you learn how to fix it. This is a skill that will still help you when you grow up.

But too much homework is not good if it stops you from resting and playing. Children need both work and rest. The important thing is finding a balance: a little homework, a little play, and a little sleep.
