Why is it important to learn a foreign language?
Learning a foreign language lets you talk to people in other countries and see the world in a bigger way.
Hundreds of different languages are spoken in the world. If you only know your own language, you can't talk to people from other countries, read their books, or understand their films. When you learn a new language, it's like a secret door opens, and behind that door new friends, new stories, and new games are waiting for you.
Learning a foreign language also makes your brain stronger. Your brain works like a muscle doing exercise when it learns to think in two languages at once. That's why children who know a foreign language are usually better at solving problems and remembering things.
Also, when you grow up, a foreign language will be very useful for finding a job, going on holiday, or messaging a friend who lives far away. For example, if you know English, you can talk to someone almost anywhere in the world.
